The air traveller’s dilemma: X-ray strip search or degrading groin grope?
Remember the days when taking a commercial airline flight was an exciting, fun experience? Well those days are long gone, and the discomfort factor is set to get a whole lot worse. With the widespread introduction of naked body scanners and "enhanced patdowns" this year air travel in America has come to resemble a prisoner exchange program. Air travellers (including toddlers) can now expect to be groped during pat-downs, or threatened, hand-cuffed and sued if they refuse to submit to one of either mutagenic x-ray scans or hands-on molestation by airport security personnel.
The world's largest pilot's association has boycotted full-body scanners, while passengers have likened the new enhanced pat-down technique to "foreplay". Indeed, the problem has got so bad that many air-travellers have now decided they would rather give up flying altogether than submit to these indecencies.
Tonight we bring you all the latest news from this unfolding debacle, including the hopeful signs that top legislators are now moving to have these violations of human rights legally abolished.
Also in tonight's show we cover the latest incremental steps towards tyranny in Australia with new anti-terror amendments giving the police the ability to search your home without a warrant.
We also cover the Federal government's last desperate push to ram a carbon tax down the throat of an increasingly uncooperative populace, and in doing so resorting to blatant bullying and direct threats, exemplified in a recent opinion piece by Julia Gillard in the Sydney Morning Herald titled "Carbon price now or we'll pay later".
Thanks for listening!

9/11 conspiracy discussed on the floor of Parliament

Unionist's 9/11 comments stupid and wrong: Gillard | ABC News.
Julia Gillard has now gone on record in Federal Parliament saying that the substantive claims of the 9/11 truth movement are "stupid and wrong", and tonight we bring you full story behind these developments.
Previously Kevin Bracken, who is the Victorian secretary of the Maritime Union of Australia and president of the Victorian Trades Hall Council, called in to ABC talkback radio in Melbourne to say that "the official story doesn't stand up to scientific scrutiny".
The radio host John Faine reacted with dismay and went on to call Mr. Bracken a "nutter" and an "extremist". However it subsequently became clear that these views had been debated by the union and the Trades Hall Council and both bodies had passed motions on the issue. Nonetheless, the focus of media and political attention has been on Kevin Bracken at a personal level, which is clearly a smokescreen tactic to divert attention from the fact that there is a massive worldwide movement for a new inquiry into the 9/11 attacks.
BREAKING NEWS (21 Oct 2010): "Trades Hall president Kevin Bracken stands by his 9/11 conspiracy"
This morning Mr Bracken phoned into Faine's program again for a right of reply. He said he wasn't phoning as the president of the Trades Hall council or as secretary of the Maritime Union of Australia.
Mr Bracken stood by his comments and said he had the support of 50 per cent of the community.
He also attacked Faine, claiming he was ridiculed on yesterday's program.
"Unfortunately cowards like yourself have set the political agenda in this country for too long," said Kevin Bracken.
"I won't be cowered down to bullies like yourself." - source

UPDATE (22 October 5:30pm):
A Herald sun poll is showing that over 65% of respondents agree with Union leader Kevin Bracken's view that the official explanation of 9/11 does not stand up to scientific scrutiny.

Israel’s act of piracy is examined and condemned

The Gaza flotilla was manned by unarmed peace activists on a humanitarian mission
Our lead story tonight is the deadly assault by the Israeli military on a convoy of ships bringing humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.
I have as my guest Michael Shaik, spokesperson for the advocacy group Australians For Palestine.
As we publish this podcast it has been reported that journalists Paul McGeough and Kate Geraghty have been deported from Israel to Turkey:
Sydney Morning Herald editor Peter Fray said earlier today that McGeough told him Geraghty was “recovering from the injuries she received when hit by what she believes was a stun gun as Israeli forces boarded the boat she was on”.
The Herald was still deeply concerned at the circumstances surrounding the detention of Mr McGeough and Ms Geraghty and their deportation, he said.
“Paul and Kate have agreed to be deported only because they have had legal advice that they will be able to appeal their deportation even after they have left Israel,” Fray said.
“The fact remains that they were denied free passage in Israel to carry out their reporting assignment despite the Israeli authorities knowing full well that they are accredited journalists.”
In the interview with Michael Shaik we look at the potential consequences of this act of blatant aggression in international waters, and the ongoing humanitarian disaster in Gaza.
We urge listeners to donate to the cause via the Free Gaza Movement or Australians for Palestine.
Thanks for your support!

The fight for freedom continues…

Tonight I am joined by Josh Jackson and John Bursill to discuss a number of issues of the day, leading with the landmark decision by an Australian Federal Court against the Australian film and television industry which was trying to make ISPs liable for the downloading habits of their customers.
"You can breach copyright in two ways. One is by directly breaching it, which the users did; and secondly you can authorise a breach of copyright, which you can sometimes do by putting people in a position where they can breach copyright," Mr Lambrick said.
"Now what Australian Federation Against Copyright Theft (AFACT) had argued was that by providing its internet service, iiNet was putting its account holders in a position whereby they could breach copyright directly themselves.
"Justice Cowdroy found it wasn't the ISP's system that was responsible for the breach of copyright. It was actually the BitTorrent system which was the means by which copyright was breached."

Other topics in focus on tonight's show include the latest develoments in the 9/11 truth movement and the quest to create a broad based anti-war / truth & justice movement to oppose the ongoing military agression and erosion of civil liberties seen across many countries.
A great show and an excellent discussion - not to be missed!

The Copenhagen Plot
Also in tonight's show, we look at the mounting evidence that the Federal Labor and Liberal parties are merely branches of the same organisation.
In the second half we bring you a review of Alex Jones' latest production - "Fall of the Republic", and we look at the disturbing prediction by U.S. Senator Ron Paul that the current economic "green shoots" will soon give way to a much deeper and darker recession, mirroring the pattern of the Great Depression.
A great show!

TNRA 10 April 2008
Welcome to truth news radio Australia, with your hosts Hereward Fenton and Joshua Jackson.
featuring our guest Dan Collins.
In this program we discuss the question whether Australia needs a Bill of Rights.
The discussion includes problems associated with putting a legal framework around universal principles, and moves on to the problematic question of whether a Bill of Rights needs to include measures which prevent infringements on our freedoms such as racial vilification, biometric scanning and covert surveillance.
In the case of racial vilification there is a potential to apply restrictions on free speech in the name of protecting ethinic minorities. In the case of bio-metric scanning there is a case for arguing that such measures are geared towards ultimitately limiting the freedom of movement and expression which we uphold as a universal right.
