Australians For Syria Protest in Sydney
On 5 August 2012 a rally was held in Sydney in support of the Syrian government by members of the Syrian community and Australians.
Some four thousand people gathered peacefully at The Sydney Town Hall to express solidarity about the tragedy in Syria.
A number of speakers, from various sections of the community, addressed the audience concerning the external forces that have invaded Syria and are fighting the elected democratic government.
The people then marched peacefully to The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs in the Sydney city area, where more speakers addressed the people.
Appreciation for Russia and China voting against the US proposed UN-NATO involvement were expressed. The meeting then peacefully dispersed.

Thank you truth news. It will be a struggle for Syria as the fascist Americans have been terrorising sovereign democratic countries like this for 60 years and are very experienced at it.
I have read that soon, the American trained and financed terrorists may stage a false flag attack using chemical weapons and their corporate war criminal media will spread their text book propaganda in an attempt to make the world believe Syria unleashed the attack.
It is easy for us to say, only the stupid and ignorant will believe this false flag attack but 300 million American citizens are the most stupid & ignorant on this planet.

I have discovered an excellent journalist named DON DEBAR from the U.S. who is able to decipher and see through the corporate media bullshit and would highly recommend him as a source for learning Middle-East affairs and news items the mainstream wont deliver.

Hi Hereward,
I want to say thank you for this reporting. Your interview with the gentleman who quit the Greens was most enlightening and welcome. It was great to hear Tim Anderson speak - and Naja, the Syrian woman. I have written an article with transcriptions of those short interviews at candobetter.net/node/3034 and we have a section on Syria http://candobetter.net/taxonomy/term/3816 with a transcript of Mother Mariam’s call to stop foreign intervention in Syria and and links to Syrian Girl Partisan and other articles on the Middle East. Please feel welcome to contribute articles, films, comments on this and other matters, even where you do not agree with us. Controversy leads to truth. We didn’t like what happened in Libya either, or Bahrain… (I never did come to grips with Egypt though, due to a family crisis at the time). Anyway, I would like to express solidarity here. On candobetter.net we are very concerned about the democracy and ecology of having huge economic immigration to Australia, but refugees are a different category and make Australia’s participation/support in these terrible resource hegemony wars to isolate Iran all the more insane. What has happened to the anti-war movement in the Greens and the Socialist Alliance? What has happened to our political system that our once radical parties now dance to the same tune as the corporates? My support for Syria is based on peak-oil research in geopolitical history which shows that what is happening here is just more of the same. Sheila Newman (Ed.)
